Indie rock band The Walkabouts was formed in Seattle, Washington in 1984. Despite their background (punk) and geography (Seattle), the Walkabouts were anything but a grunge band; dark, haunting, and elegiac, their work instead sprung forth from the storytelling traditions of American roots music and the kinetic excitement of rock & roll. New West Motel is the fifth studio album by The Walkabouts, released in 1993.
