Norwegian extreme metal band Drottnar was founded in Fredrikstad in 1996. Their sound has evolved from a hybrid of death-doom, folk, and Viking metal roots in the 1990s to bridging the subgenres of technical, progressive, and black metal. The band is known for their peculiar thematics and live shows where they use military uniforms reminiscent of the Soviet style.
