Noise rock band Flux Information Sciences was formed in 1996 in Brooklyn, New York. They combined a dark sense of humor with funky, destructionist noise that was alternately electronic and more organic. The collective gained a loyal following throughout the underground New York scene with confrontational live performances that often made light of consumerism and the mundane side of life. They released four albums: A Dedication to Volt (1997), Services (1999), Summer (2000), and Private/Public (2001).
