Germs band 1979 (GI) Limited Edition T-Shirt Men
Germs band Licensed Merchandise
If there was ever a band that burned out rather than fading away, it was the Germs. One of the most infamous bands to rise from the Los Angeles punk scene in the '70s, the Germs were a group that, even by the edgy standards of punk, left remarkable chaos in their wake, and had a seismic impact on the local scene during their short but memorable run. (GI) is the only studio album by the Germs. Often considered the first hardcore punk album, it was released in the United States in October 1979. After (GI)'s release, the band would only undertake one more recording session, for the soundtrack album to Al Pacino's 1980 film Cruising. A year after the release of (GI), on December 7, 1980, vocalist Darby Crash killed himself.
