Formed in 1976 by vocalist, guitarist, and provocateur Lydia Lunch, Teenage Jesus & the Jerks were the center of New York's short-lived no wave movement. They were instrumental in laying the groundwork for the noise rock movement of the '80s, and their work still sounds as forbidding and uncompromising as anything their spiritual followers recorded.
