The Wasia Project was formed in 2019 by siblings Will Gao and Olivia Hardy. Their mixed British-East Asian heritage and classical training inspired them to write songs which encorporate a diverse mix of genres including jazz, indie pop, bedroom pop and classical. The group released their debut single, "why don't u love me," in 2019 and was followed by their debut EP How Can I Pretend? (2022).
